September was a classic wader month with lots of migrating birds showing extremely well - I spent a lot of time at Salthouse in the company of dunlin and little stint.

 

 

My highlight of the month came in the first few days with the appearance of a very approachable purple sandpiper, which at times showed to within 6 feet.

 

other birds showing well at Salthouse included meadow pipts, pied wagtails and wheatears.

 

Trips to other sites through out the month allowed me to catch up with numerous other species such as sanderling, curlew sadnpiper and bearded tit.
