January 2007
The star bird of the month for me was an amazingly showy lesser yellowlegs that spent the second half of the month at Thornham.
I've seen a couple of lesser yellowlegs before, but have never seen one as well as this...

Mid-month I was surprised to see a common crane near Fakenham, I later discovered that it was a wild adult that has been spending a lot of time at Pensthorpe.

Late in the month I finally managed to photograph a nuthatch, normally they evade me, but this one was very showy.
Throughout the month I spent a lot of time at feeding stations photographing some commoner species.

January also saw the welcome return of jays to my garden, last winter we regularly had two, this year we've got three!
