January got the year off to a good start - lot of birding and loads of birds around.

 

 

The highlight of the month for me was a firecrest at Lynford arboretum - three hours waiting were worthwhile when it finally showed well.

 

I went out a few times to try for our local fieldfares - on the thrid try they showed well, as did a lapwing.

 

On the 31st I headed to the Ouse wahses to try for a lesser scaup that had been around, although I managed to see it, it was to distant for photos. The birds at the feeding station were however much more obliging...
